Reimagined in a new location

We have big news

October 4, 2017

As they say, “when one door closes, another opens”.

After twenty-two years in business, The Blue Star is temporarily closing its doors to reimagine and renovate. We will close our current location on Saturday, October 7, and we will be opening again in a new location (to be announced) in downtown Colorado Springs in 2019.

The guiding principles of The Blue Star will continue to be the foundation of the reinvented restaurant: a commitment to an experience of flavors grounded in simplicity, the use of fresh, local ingredients, and creating a community around craveable experiences for every guest. We relish the opportunity to reinvigorate and craft a truly memorable experience for our beloved, longtime patrons and new guests who will be discovering this Colorado Springs gem for the first time. When the Blue Star reopens its doors, our goal will be to continue to inspire you and elevate the vibrant culinary landscape in Colorado Springs.

Join us for a celebration to bid farewell to our South Tejon location and toast to the Blue Star’s second act. We want to celebrate the many wonderful years on South Tejon with you, our loyal patrons! Help us close this chapter and open a new one — from Thursday, October 5 thru Saturday, October 7, please join us for half-off bottles of wine and chef’s specials nightly starting at 5pm. Blue Star Group, which operates The Blue Star, La’au’s Taco Shop, and Principal’s Office and Old School Bakery inside the Ivywild School, is excited at the new opportunity ahead for The Blue Star and the opportunity to invite new, exciting experiences to the Ivywild neighborhood in our old location. “We remain committed to the culinary scene in Colorado Springs and elevating the food, service and experiences for our city,” said Joseph Coleman, owner of Blue Star Group. “I’m excited about the mark The Blue Star has made on our community, our team members and myself, and we will continue to sharpen our skills and craft unique experiences in the rebranded Blue Star. The face of the restaurant business is evolving with a generation of diners that value experience in dining; with that in mind, we move with intention and excitement towards reimagining The Blue Star.”

The Blue Star, opening August 7, 1995 in Old Colorado City, fulfilled Joseph Coleman’s childhood dream. Quickly outgrowing the first location and moving three years later to the current location at 1645 South Tejon Street, The Blue Star has been at the center of the culinary scene in Colorado Springs for over 20 years. Adding to the Blue Star Group family, La’au’s Taco Shop opened in 2007, bringing diversity and new culinary experiences to the local community. In 2013, partnering with Bristol Brewing Company, Blue Star Group purchased and developed the Ivywild School, adding Principal’s Office and Old School Bakery to the family of restaurants. Blue Star Group has a passion for excellence, delivering an unparalleled guest experience through outstanding cuisine paired with exceptional hospitality and heartfelt connections.
